BABY FOODS -
Healthy Times
was founded in 1980 by Rondi K. Prescott. At the time, Rondi was a
young mother looking for products that did not contain refined
sugars, preservatives or artificial additives. Rondi had studied
nutrition at Colorado State University for her own satisfaction
than for any career goal. When her daughter, Lorissa, was born,
Rondi found that there were no products on the market that met her
ingredient standards. In fact, sugar, salt and preservatives were
listed in most of the baby foods on the market at the time. Being a
natural cook who seldom followed a recipe, Rondi developed the
first all natural teething biscuit for her baby using whole grain
flour, unsulphured molasses and natural vanilla. Lorissa's pleasure
in eating the teething biscuit while being examined by the
pediatrician led him to refer other mothers to Rondi for her
teething biscuits. When production needs outgrew the kitchen,
Healthy Times was born.
Today, Healthy Times products are made from organically grown
ingredients, no preservatives or artificial additives. Healthy
Times is the only exclusive organic baby food company providing
mothers with products that are USDA certified organic, certified
kosher by OU, and addresses baby's allergies by offering wheat
free, dairy free, soy free products for sensitive babies. The

Mississippi made beer! Our state has finally registered
its first microbrewery. Lazy Magnolia Brewing
Company is located in Kiln, MS and has recently begun to
distribute all over the Jackson area. We are happy to carry this
project for many reasons. First and foremost is that there is very
little transportation cost involved in receiving them here at our
store, which translates into very little fossil fuels burned in the
transaction. All of the money spent on these little ditties stays
in Mississippi!
Lazy Magnolia sells their product in 6-packs of glass bottles, and returnable kegs called "party pigs". Party Pigs are 2.25 gallons of beer, equal to a case of 12 oz bottles, in a plastic oblong bubble, pressurized and ready to go, all for just $34.99. This means there is less packaging and less waste. In addition to this earth-friendly practice, they will also allow you to return the pig and they will rinse, sterilize, and reuse it!
Last, but not least, they buy their ingredients as locally as possible. Their Southern Pecan was first made with Mississippi pecans back in 2003 when they first began experimenting. After Katrina, they have been forced to search out pecans in Mid-Louisiana. Soon enough, the Mississippi pecan harvest will be back and they will be the first to know.
We are offering 3 of their staple brews, Southern Pecan, Blue Heron, and Amberjaque all at $34.99/2.25 gal....(That's a bit less than the only other store in town we could find offering it!)

RECYCLING DROP-OFF POINTS:
PUBLIC RECYCLING LOCATION
Just 2.7 miles from Rainbow at 841 Palmyra St. Take Fortification to the west over the railway tracks. The second stop light is Palmyra. Turn left. The recycling warehouse is the last building on that block on your right.
The glass bins are on the driveway at the right of this picture. You can drop off CLEAN Glass any time day or night, even weekends.
You can drop off cardboard, all types of plastics, paper, metals, and glass.
The glass bins are outside on the right and can be accessed 24 hours a day. All other recycleables must be brought during regular business hours.
They are open from 7:00am until 4:00pm Monday-Friday. In bad weather, you can even drive right inside the warehouse to recycle.
NEW SORTING ORDER - You have a choice about sorting your recyclables. One option is no sorting. In that case, put all your recyclables inside the doors to the right.The other option is to separate cardboard and plastic drink bottles. Cardboard would go on the left, far back. The plastic drink bottles on the left but nearer.
TARGET
has bins for recycling GLASS!, Aluminum, Plastic, Plastic Bags, Cell Phones, and Ink
There are two stores in the Jackson area. One near I-55 and County Line Road.
The other is out Lakeland at the far end of the Dogwood shopping area.
The bins are inside the store right after the check out counters.
Target delivery trucks load up the recyclables on their empty return trips back to the Target Distribution center.

BLACK RICE - Black "forbidden rice" is so named because originally, in China, it was considered the Emperor's rice and it was forbidden for anyone else to eat it.
Black rice is one of several black-colored heirloom plants producing rice variants such as Indonesian black rice and Thai Jasmine Black Rice. Black rice is high in nutritional value including iron. Unlike other rice from Asia, it is not glutinous or rough. This grain has a similar amount of fiber to brown rice and like brown rice, has a mild, nutty taste.
According to a study presented at the 240th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS), "one spoonful of black rice bran contains more anthocyanin antioxidants than a spoonful of blueberries and better yet, black rice offers more fiber and vitamin E antioxidants, but less sugar."

RECYCLING DROP-OFF POINTS:
PUBLIC RECYCLING LOCATION
Just 2.7 miles from Rainbow at 841 Palmyra St. Take Fortification to the west over the railway tracks. The second stop light is Palmyra. Turn left. The recycling warehouse is the last building on that block on your right.
The glass bins are on the driveway at the right of this picture. You can drop off CLEAN Glass any time day or night, even weekends.
You can drop off cardboard, all types of plastics, paper, metals, and glass.
The glass bins are outside on the right and can be accessed 24 hours a day. All other recycleables must be brought during regular business hours.
They are open from 7:00am until 4:00pm Monday-Friday. In bad weather, you can even drive right inside the warehouse to recycle.
NEW SORTING ORDER - You have a choice about sorting your recyclables. One option is no sorting. In that case, put all your recyclables inside the doors to the right.The other option is to separate cardboard and plastic drink bottles. Cardboard would go on the left, far back. The plastic drink bottles on the left but nearer.
TARGET
has bins for recycling GLASS!, Aluminum, Plastic, Plastic Bags, Cell Phones, and Ink
There are two stores in the Jackson area. One near I-55 and County Line Road.
The other is out Lakeland at the far end of the Dogwood shopping area.
The bins are inside the store right after the check out counters.
Target delivery trucks load up the recyclables on their empty return trips back to the Target Distribution center.

They have 3 or 4 red metal bins in front of their building. You can put all types of plastic, paper, cardboard and metal in those bins.
